No One Can Really Tell The Truth Like John Walsh
This photo found here captures merely one example of the hazardous flooding situations unexpectedly met by auto traffic and pedestrians alike contending with backed-up sewers!
Take a really good look at the wet, nasty surroundings found at the Northwest corner of First and Spring Streets at Noon Friday 2/28 … just across the street from the office of an oblivious Mayor Garcetti in the City Hall Bldg.!
Similarly unacceptable conditions were to be found this past Friday at hundreds of other overwhelmed city sewer sites throughout this city of 4 million … leaving lots of unlucky pedestrians with no other choice to avoid serious slips and falls but to try jumping over giant LA puddles caused directly by gravely flooded, atrociously-neglected city sewers that were to be found almost everywhere during the Super-Storm!
Many of these would-be city puddle-jumpers Friday wound up getting their feet soaked up to the ankles while others met considerably worse injurious fate!
In contrast, the sewer systems in neighboring cities such as Long Beach and Pasadena passed their Big Storm Test Friday with flying colors! However the City of Los Angeles failed this acid test miserably!
“Unaware Eric”, The Do-Nothing Mayor of LA, and his ever-faithful City Council members, are now playing dumb about the whole sodden affair!
Instead, the City Political Leaders must be made to shoulder the blame for not giving a damn and allowing our now prone-to-flooding street sewer drains to deteriorate to the shocking degree encountered by traffic and pedestrians alike throughout LA during this first major rainstorm in quite a while and its damaging aftermath!
SEWERGATE is sure to repeat itself the next time a giant storm system like Friday’s strikes this city unless millions of city tax dollars are spent starting right now to repair our currently distressingly-dysfunctional sewer system!
The LA Times professes ignorance of this massive storm drain failure on Friday!
Hold on! Isn’t that the corner of the iconic Los Angeles Times Bldg. in the upper right-hand corner of this accompanying photo? That’s just one block distant from the intersection of Second and Spring Street where an LA Times surveillance camera recently caught the Mayor in his LAPD car hitting a female pedestrian in the crosswalk!
Lazy LA Times editors and reporters could have covered this sewer water-drenched story simply by poking their heads out of their own damn office windows!
But Los Angeles Times Publisher,The Imperious Mr. Eddy Hartenstein, cravenly accommodated the ought-to-be-embarrassed LA Mayor and City Council by literally looking the other way to avoid noticing the huge backed-up First and Spring sewer puddle at his own and their own doorstep!
Why? Because the Tribune Corp. expects a face-saving favor like this one to be more than amply repaid when the Times Bldg. is eventually sold and the LA Mayor and his obedient City Council ignore the strict road-blocking city ordinances connected to such a huge property sale/ transfer and blindly sign off on the whole deal!
